ALL TIME LOW AT PIER 17 IN NEW YORK CITY
“The Sound of Letting Go” tour began in All Time Low’s hometown of Baltimore, MD. The tour found its way to New York City for day 3 of All Time Low’s summer headlining tour. After a week of scorching heat and high humidity, this day in particular offered much needed relief just in time for this sold out rooftop show at Pier 17.
All Time Low jumped right into it by kicking off the night with “Lost in Stereo”. With the crowd already jumping from that intro, they followed up with “Damned If I Do Ya”, “Six Feet Under The Stars”, and “Poppin’ Champagne” to set the mood for a dance party. On stage or on the floor, people were enjoying themselves to the fullest at these moments.
It was clear to see how much thought and effort All Time Low (and their team) put into this tour. Throughout the night, a song was played from pretty much every album, making for a very solid setlist carefully crafted for old and new fans alike. Their stage design was filled with absolutely stunning visuals - each unique from the last enhancing every song along the way. The visuals for “Monster” were engaging and the positive reaction from the crowd was evidence enough to attest for their efforts.
Furthermore, to keep the audience engaged, we got to vote (via QR code) between four song options for All Time Low to perform. New York City chose “Backseat Serenade”, the same as Boston too (and apparently many other nights as well). Another fun thing that was done on this tour was having a song randomizer decide their second to last song of the night. For us, it was “Vegas”. Even the visual was tailored to this song.
Facing opposite of the stage, the Statue of Liberty could be seen in the distance. Next to her, a fireworks display was going off, much to the attention of singer Alex Gaskarth. “Impromptu firework show? Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the fireworks? Fuck this show, enjoy this beautiful moment.” It happened as they performed “Missing You”, which was honestly the icing on the cake to this slowed down part of their set. The timing could not have been any better.
Finally to close the night, a song that has transcended decades, “Dear Maria, Count Me In” began to leave the crowd with a familiar sense of joy, and perhaps some nostalgia too.
