BANKS AT HOUSE OF BLUES IN HOUSTON
Banks made her stop on the III tour in Houston earlier this month with support from Kevin Garrett and Bea Miller.
Opening with the hauntingly beautiful song, "Til Now," and then right into "Fuck with Myself," Banks proved yet again how she can open a show like no other. The set consisted of various tracks from her most recent album, ‘III’, as well as hits from her first two albums, ‘Goddess’ and ‘The Altar’.
Movement and production are definitely two things that Jillian Banks has mastered as a performer and this tour is just another example of that. Reds and blues flash all over the stage while she and her dancers move in sync with each other during each song. You feel energized, yet completely and totally still watching them twist and whip back and forth to heavy synth and bass beats with gorgeous harmonies. Banks' vocal performance is unmatched -- her signature sounds being that deep growl mixed with soft vocals make for the perfect balance of the heaviness and fragility that exist in her songs, as well as performance.
Having seen Banks many times throughout the years, her performances, as well studio recordings, have continued to elevate more and more, showing everyone her innate ability as a performer and a songwriter. She has a way of showcasing the rawness and emotions that are prevalent in her music so well through her performance, and it is without a doubt one of my favorite performances to watch to date.
If you appreciate music and like to feel things, go see Banks live. You won't regret it.
