COUNTING CROWS AT STONE PONY SUMMER STAGE IN ASBURY PARK

August is here and the summer of 2022 is on its tail end. It was another weekend down in Asbury Park, NJ for me, another beautiful Saturday night at the Stone Pony Summer Stage with another legendary act performing live to a sold out crowd! Counting Crows took the stage as they are finishing up their US run for the “Butter Miracle Tour”, and they did not disappoint! 

This summer has been filled with some amazing acts. I started listening to many of these acts as a young teen. To see certain acts, like Counting Crows, truly keeps the youth in me alive and kicking! The night started with Stephen Kellogg. Counting Crows took the stage shortly after 8pm and Stephen Kellogg made sure that crowd was awake and ready for more before they did.  

The stage was filled with instruments from left to right. From new music to the many classics produced over the past decades, the Counting Crows delivered and didn’t skip a beat. They opened the show with “Scarecrow” and “Mr. Jones”, and then took a pause from the full band and turned off some of the lights to deliver the classic, “Colorblind”. The show would continue with the boys playing other hits such as “Miami”, “Elevator Boots”, and closed out before the encore with “A Long December”. This show definitely made you think of the days of watching these classics on MTV and brought back some good memories! Counting Crows came back out for their mighty encore and played “Round Here”, and then invited Stephen Kellogg back out to cover his tune “Almost Woke You Up”. Just as Stephen did at the end of his set, he invited some others out to join in the closeout of the show, a few of them being his lovely daughters who you could tell love performing just like dad!  

Counting Crows are currently wrapping up their US leg of this tour before heading overseas. Check to see if they may be stopping by a town near you and grab yourself a ticket or two. There’s nothing wrong with heading out for a night filled with great music and reliving some memories from the past!
