JOJO AT UNION TRANSFER IN PHILADELPHIA
American singer-songwriter Jojo graced Philadelphia with her latest tour featuring support from Lindsey Lomis and Tanerélle. The sold out Union Transfer show was packed wall to wall with fans who were eagerly awaiting a night to remember.
I had never heard of either of Jojo’s openers prior to the show but I was so impressed with their performances. The crowd was absolutely buzzing with excitement right from the start. When Lindsey Lomis took the stage, it was clear that she had quite a few fans in the audience. With just her and her electric guitar she had a very lowkey performance, but her voice was quite beautiful and Philadelphia made sure to show her tons of love throughout her time on stage.
Hitting the stage after Lindsey Lomis was Tanerélle. When she walked out, my jaw dropped. This woman absolutely oozed confidence. Her performance was hypnotic. A lot of her songs were also fairly slow and soulful, but she had the audience eating straight out of the palm of her hand. Her voice was so smooth as she sang each song in her set and she also clearly had a ton of fans in the audience as people sang along and screamed for her throughout the set. At the end of her set she had the audience participate in screaming out lyrics in response to what she was singing on stage and it had everybody very encapsulated in the performance.
When it was time for Jojo to take the stage, the audience became instantly animated. For me personally, Jojo is an incredibly nostalgic artist and her journey is very inspiring. This was my first time getting to see her perform live and I can’t believe it has taken me this long. For starters, she has an absolutely phenomenal voice. Her vocal tone is to die for, her pitch is dead on, and her runs are astonishing. She has such a bright and sparky personality to top it all off. Her gratitude towards her fans is heartwarming to see, as she started to tear up towards the end of her set from the support she received from the audience. They never stopped singing along to every word from her set. She made sure to let them know that they were what made her and kept her going while living out her dream. She performed songs such as “Man”, “High Heels.”, and “Spiral SZN”. During her set Saxl Rose came out to perform with her which was a really nice surprise. She also gave her backup singer Keisha Renee a chance to shine with an impressive solo.
When it was time for Jojo’s encores, she performed “Think About You” before throwing it back for the audience with “Leave (Get Out)”, “Too Little Too Late”, and “Baby It’s You”. The audience absolutely erupted in applause for her as she closed out the show, and the crowd left with smiles on their faces. There are still a handful of dates left on this tour and I highly recommend checking this one out if you can, and making sure you’re there early to check out Lindsey Lomis and Tanerélle as well.
