Tri-state area punk band, Keep Flying, released their new single, “Firesale” from their new EP, set to be released this winter. The song and video find the band with their latest line up while they continue to hone their sound, hovering the lines between ska and pop-punk. The voices of vocalist Henry Menzel and guitarist Charlie Bruno balance out well, and are on full display amongst the horn section and beating drums.

The video features Henry going through various life issues such as being late to work, having a negative balance in his bank account, being fired, and being evicted. The video flashes between the storyline and the band, made up of vocalist Henry Menzel, bassist Chuck Bernard, guitarist Charlie Bruno, sax player John James Ryan Jr., and drummer Peter Vriones. The band is playing in a garage that is filled with smoke and covered in charcoal, with burned clothes aptly paying tribute to the title of the song.

If this is the direction for the new music and the new aesthetic, then I am very excited. The song is about continuing on and picking yourself back up in the face of adversity and difficulties.

“Because I just need to stand up straight/ I cannot live with my whole world crumbling around me/ Just let me get my wits about me.”

If you’re not aboard the Keep Flying train, then this song is your introduction to get on it. The band is known for chaotic energy on stage and as such, I’m interested to see where the new music fits amongst their other songs such as “Unbreakable” and “Miranda”.

The video was shot and edited by Jessy Gonzalez, who can be found on twitter as @RedHatJessy. He frequently works with Keep Flying on their videos and visuals. He also did the audio recordings of the live album they released in April.
