MOON TAXI AT WEBSTER HALL IN NEW YORK CITY
There is no better way to spend a Thursday night in New York City than by seeing live music! Up a flight of stairs on 11th Street, Moon Taxi rocked the iconic Webster Hall on their “Silver Dream” tour. It was my first time back at the venue since 2019 and boy, it was a good night to return.
Sparkle City warmed up the crowd with groovy disco beats. People filled the floor as the disco ball glowed, and soon enough the lights went low and silhouettes appeared on stage. A guitar riff rang, bright yellow lights shone, and “All Day All Night” boomed through the speakers. The crowd roared. Time for Moon Taxi!
With such a packed set list from popular singles “Not Too Late”, and “Red Hot Lights”, to newer songs like “Light Up”, and “Hometown Heroes”, the dancing never stopped. You could even feel the floor bouncing as everyone jumped! There were so many sweet moments of couples swaying together and twirling around. I’ll never forget watching frat bros turning into fan girls belting out their favorite songs. They knew every word!
We were treated to insane jams and a fantastic special guest saxophonist, Amber Woodhouse, who joined the tour for five dates in the Northeast. Heavy bass and sax solos vibrated throughout “Now’s The Time”, and I have to admit Amber’s sax solo in “Make Your Mind Up” stole my attention! Each member had such energetic, striking solos which gave everyone the chance to show off their impressive skills.
The disco ball sparkled towards the end, with bright blues and greens transforming the room. Fan favorite “Two High” closed the show and peace signs filled the air. Drummer Tyler Ritter made sure to sweep the stage then tossed his drumsticks, setlists, and picks to the cheering crowd. If you can catch Moon Taxi on the rest of this tour, you definitely should.
