NOTHING, NOWHERE. AT THE STONE PONY IN ASBURY PARK

Fresh off the release of his new single “MEMORY_FRACTURE”, nothing, nowhere. kicked off the first night of a new tour at none other than the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. This venue has seen tons of acts come through its doors within the almost 50 years of operation, and while this show wasn’t quite sold out, you wouldn’t have known, as the crowd made it feel like you were standing in that type of room. The 5 band bill kept everyone jamming out the whole night.

Opening up the show that night was the band snarls. The Columbus natives got the crowd started with a fairly chill vibe. Throughout their performance there were pops of energy on the stage from each member that kept things interesting.

Taking the stage directly after was carolesdaughter. Lead singer, Thea Taylor, boasts a beautiful live voice and kept the crowd entranced throughout her performance. In between songs in the set she took the time to talk with the crowd and she joked around about her track “please put me in a medically induced coma”, letting them know it was a funny story, “well ok maybe not funny, but…” Her sense of humor on stage was refreshing.

Up next was guccihighwaters, who was recently signed to Public Consumption. The singer/producer/songwriter also recently released two singles, “crash my car” (which he played live at the show) and “devil on my shoulder”. The vibe was completely different for this set, as his style is more similar in nature to nothing, nowhere.’s genre of a sort of emo/rap kind of thing. The crowd was hyped to see him perform and he had quite a chunk of the audience singing along with him.

The energy in the room did a complete 180 the minute POORSTACY hit the stage. I’ve never listened to POORSTACY prior to this show, but the name was familiar from the tour admat for Bring Me The Horizon’s European tour. Having known this, I was pretty hyped to check him out, and he absolutely delivered. He started the set off by immediately jumping into the crowd and demanding the pit open up. Delivering his vocals from the barricade while the crowd went nuts behind him was a wild, chaotic scene to witness. The band was absolutely jamming out on stage. Even more chaotic? They restarted the first song because they wanted even MORE from the crowd. The entire set was so enthralling to watch as even from the stage, vocalist Carlito Milfort absolutely killed it. This was the perfect precursor to our headlining set that everyone was waiting for.

Prior to the tour starting, nothing, nowhere. was holding a contest that allowed fans to build their own dream setlist for the tour. After entering the site, fans were shown a setlist and were asked to rearrange the songs on it to their liking. This was really cool, as it not only hyped fans up for the show (I heard fans discussing their setlist orders in line prior to doors opening), but it also gave fans a look into what songs were potentially going to be played on the tour. When Joe Mulherin took the stage, the venue absolutely exploded with excitement. He opened his set with “hammer”, which immediately had the crowd off their feet, singing and dancing. By the time we hit the third song in the set (a personal favorite of mine), “pretend”, there was not a single person in that venue not shouting along (myself included, even with the camera up to my face - no shame!). The lighting was moody and colorful as nothing, nowhere. performed song after song which included tracks such as “Clarity in Kerosene”, “death”, and “fake friend”. I’m honestly not sure there were many moments where he was standing still, as he spun and ran around the stage through most of his set. If he wasn’t on stage, you could find him directly up against the barricade interacting with fans. His new single “MEMORY_FRACTURE” made its live debut a little more than halfway through the set, and it was even better live than I could’ve imagined. At one point looking out into the crowd, I saw many friends (or maybe even strangers) with their arms around each other, jumping around and screaming into each other’s faces. The sense of community at a nothing, nowhere. show felt so warm and welcoming. As the set wound down, he encored with “Nevermore” and left the Stone Pony crowd craving more.

There are tons more dates on this nothing, nowhere. tour, so I’d highly recommend taking a look to see if there’s any near you, grabbing a friend, and getting ready to have a great time.
