SEVENDUST AT PALLADIUM TIMES SQUARE IN NEW YORK CITY
Sevendust’s concert at Palladium Times Square on September 19, 2024, was an unforgettable night for metal heads, bringing the energy and intensity you’d expect from these veterans. The venue itself was the perfect size — large enough for the crowd to feel electric, but small enough to retain an intimate vibe. It is quite amazing to be in the heart of NYC in the middle of Times Square, and yet you step into this venue and get completely lost into a world of music featuring some of your all-time favorite artists. Sevendust brought you into their world and put on an amazing show celebrating the album Seasons’ 21st anniversary.
Opening the night was Knoxville, Tennessee favorites 10 Years, whose alternative-metal sound got the crowd warmed up with distinctive riffs and raw sound. Their set featured a solid mix of new tracks and fan favorites like "Beautiful", “The Shift”, and closing out their set with “Wasteland”, pulling everyone in with a moving and powerful performance. Vocalist Jesse Hasek’s energy was crowd pleasing and a sight to watch, setting the stage for the insanity that would follow.
By the time Sevendust hit the stage, the energy in the room was red lining to the max. Touring in support of their album Seasons’ 21st Anniversary, they showed fans both old and new just why they are one of the best in the business. Hearing Seasons’ classics “Enemy”, “Broken Down”, and “Suffocate” was enjoyable for all in attendance, but a true treat for the veteran fans. Lajon Witherspoon controlled the stage with his emotional, yet aggressive vocals, backed by the blistering riffs of Tim Tournier (filling in for Clint Lowery) and John Connolly. Morgan Rose’s unique and heavy hitting drumming kept the crowd head banging throughout, especially during fan favorites like "Face to Face" and "Bitch".
Sevendust’s chemistry after nearly three decades together was undeniable. They delivered every song with precision and passion as the true professionals and legends that they have become. This show was a time capsule in metal, proving Sevendust’s staying power. To hear songs that have not been played in decades, or possibly at all live, was just pure gold. From their melodic grooves to crushing breakdowns, this night at Palladium was a reminder of why these guys are still among the best in the game.
