THE STRUTS AT METRO IN CHICAGO, IL
The lights dim. The words “Ladies and Gentlemen, prepare to be entertained..” flow out of the speakers. One by one, each member but frontman Luke Spiller file through. Screams of impatient fans grow. The Struts begin to tease with the opening notes of “Put Your Hands Up.” As the music continues Spiller struts his way on to the stage (pun not intended) and shouts “YOU WANT FUN?” The energy possessed by Spiller is unending. The intensity of the music sets up the mood to stay on one’s feet. They premiered a new track titled: “Primadonna Like Me” which Luke jokingly claimed was about him. The crowd received it with excitement and will surely be a hit once it’s released on the new album. “Dirty Sexy Money” being one of their more racier tunes was the loudest song of the night. Whether it’s the charisma or insane vocals of frontman Luke Spiller, he delivered every song with an unmatchable liveliness. Fan favorite: “Kiss This” begun with the crowd singing it back to the band. “Kiss This” was one of many songs throughout the night that had the voices of the crowd muffle Luke. Word for word everyone in the pit was singing. Besides having epic glam-rock music, it is always lovely to see bands genuinely thank their fans. In one point, Spiller invited a fan onto the stage. This lady then proceeded to roll up her sleeve and showcase her tattoo of Luke Spiller’s face. The crowd applauded to the dedication of the fan. Luke kindly helped her get back down to the crowd. Closing with “Could Have Been Me” Spiller invited the crowd to participate as his “fireworks.” Everyone gladly got down on their knees and Jumped straight back up at the queue from Luke. Overall, the show was unforgettable and “the best one yet” in the words of the band.
