TRINITY OF TERROR TOUR AT THE PARAMOUNT IN HUNTINGTON

TRINITY OF TERROR TOUR AT THE PARAMOUNT IN HUNTINGTON

While many New Yorkers headed out to Long Island this weekend for an uplifting religious celebration, others made the trek to revel in the darker side of life. Friday night, the Trinity of Terror Tour—featuring triple headliners Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills, and Black Veil Brides—made its only NYC area stop, selling out The Paramount in Huntington.

After an opening set from Lilith Czar, Motionless In White were scheduled to play second that evening. Being billed as a triple headline tour, the three groups alternate who closes each night. This meant that even if you had an opening slot, there is a good chance of having a large crowd to play for. That was definitely the case with MIW. Fans down front expressed their love prior to hearing even one note from the group, chanting, “Motion-less!” before the lights went down. By the time the band took the stage, people were all revved up and ready to go crazy. When singer Chris Motionless kicked things off by commanding the crowd to, “Get UP!”, they happily obliged and let loose. Hammering the crowd with one heavy hitter after another, there was never a lapse in energy at any moment from the band or the audience.

As if the Goth Glam, chaotic light shows and flashing graphics weren’t enough visual stimulation, the set included appearances from characters such as a hysterical preacher baptizing the crowd via Super Soaker during “Thoughts and Prayers”, a masked furry dispersing candy during “Necessary Evil”, and a MIW flag-waving hype man during the mesmerizing new song “Cyberhex”.

Though Motionless In White’s performance had the intensity of a closing set, there was still more to come. Ice Nine Kills were here to take things to another level. Filled with non-stop theatrics and metal, this crowd ate it all up from start to finish. Their set featured multiple costume changes and actors on hand to help recreate classic Horror film icons including Patrick Bateman, Freddy Krueger, and Marion Crane from “Psycho”. If you’re not into lots of headbanging while watching chainsaw-wielding maniacs, murderous butchers, and a psycho clown tormenting a child, then an Ice Nine Kills show may not be for you! It was all for this full house, who knew all the creepy words to songs like “Welcome to Horrorwood”, “Ex-Mørtis”, and “The American Nightmare”.

Closing the night were Black Veil Brides, who elicited deafening screams when they walked out to play for the remaining troopers who were ready to rock out one more time. BVB didn’t have the extras that were featured by the earlier bands. The powerful songs and blazing guitar work were enough to keep fists raised and singalongs going while scenes depicting crosses, winged demons, and crucifixions played behind them. “In the End” was the final singalong of a long exhilarating night.

The Trinity of Terror Tour continues to work its way South, finishing up in Norfolk, VA on April 27th.
