ASHNIKKO AT THE FILLMORE IN PHILADELPHIA
Grab your leather and wigs, and get ready to go! Ashnikko is currently out on her “Demidevil Tour” to celebrate the album released back in January of this year. She played a packed show at Philadelphia’s Fillmore venue and fans couldn’t have been more excited. Walking up to the venue I saw the most eccentric outfits and brightly colored wigs- her fans understood the assignment for sure. Her stage was set up with giant tentacles that had eyes on them to match the otherworldly vibe that she usually gives off. Her DJ on the tour came on stage and started playing popular tracks to get the crowd moving, because who wouldn’t be hyped up by tracks like “Thot Shit” by Meg Thee Stallion and the Ashnikko remix of Lady Gaga’s “Plastic Doll”?
When Ashnikko skipped out to take the stage she opened up her show with “Tantrum” and had the whole crowd yelling along with her. The bass was so loud it could’ve blown the roof straight off the venue. Right from the first song you could already see that Ashnikko has a special type of star quality. She is, without a doubt, born to be on that stage. Not only does her voice sound great live, but she moves around with such ease and interacts with her audience frequently. The age range at that show was probably the most shocking thing for me to see. While looking around I could see plenty of people around my age (which generally feels like her target audience), but she also had plenty of smaller children there as well - also singing along to every single word from their parent’s shoulders.
Throughout the night she hit the audience with favorites such as “L8r Boi”, “Slumber Party”, and “Working Bitch”. Sorry for being crude, but if you didn’t shake your ass, were you even really at an Ashnikko show? Her performance had the audience off their feet the entire time. She donned a pair of knee pads as part of her stage outfit because even she was getting down low. She brought tears to my eyes during “Panic Attacks in Paradise” where she used her platform to talk about mental health and then performed the somber, slower track; which was a great contrast to the rest of her set which was very high energy. In addition to this, she also used her platform to talk about the dangers of assault. By the end of her set she did a great medley of her “Halloweenie” tracks. She came back on stage for an encore of “Maggots” and then “Daisy”. Before “Daisy” she screamed at the crowd several times, “You wanna see crazy!?” and had the crowd incredibly hyped up. Ashnikko leaving the stage for the night left everyone with adrenaline. Leaving the venue, I heard the screams of her fans on the streets of Philadelphia shouting her name. Ashnikko is an artist to be on the lookout for, as I can only imagine she will keep growing as an artist with how incredible, genuine, and quirky she is. There are still dates left on the “Demidevil Tour” as well and I couldn’t recommend enough that you go out to catch her perform. Just make sure you get some good stretches in before the show, because you won’t be able to stop moving once you start.
