CHICAGO AT PNC BANK ARTS CENTER IN HOLMDEL

It is another beautiful summer evening and it is another concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center, but it isn’t just any concert, it is one from a band that has been rocking the stage and playing music since the 1960’s. Chicago helped reopen this venue after being shut down since the pandemic, and they came back this summer to help rock the crowd that loves them once again!

Brian Wilson opened up the show for Chicago on this current tour. You heard some of the Beach Boys classics, with the band opening the set with “California Girls” followed by “Do It Again” and “I Get Around”.

Chicago just released their 38th studio album entitled Born For This Moment. After the first few songs, Lee Loughnane took a moment to thank the crowd for the ongoing years of support, and to let us all know that Chicago will keep coming back and playing as long as the fans want them too! He spoke about their new studio album and got the crowd ready for one of the new singles they would be playing next, “If This Is Goodbye. As they played the new track, you could see the crowd of die-hard fans had already learned and memorized the lyrics as they danced and sang along. Chicago has not skipped a beat or slowed down in their song writing. They have proved that after 10 decades they still have it!

This night the band played nearly 30 of their classics. “So Much to Say, So Much to Give”, “Colour My World”, “Hard Habit to Break”, and one of my favorites, “You’re the Inspiration”, would be a few of the many played. After nearly 2 dozen tunes played, this just simply was not enough for the fans in attendance! The guys played a rocking encore featuring the hits “Free” and “25 or 6 to 4”.

When you think of a perfect summer night, this night is a perfect example of just that: legends still rocking a concert stage. there was beautiful weather outside while hanging out with the ones you love, as well as others around you that saw a common interest in music. Thank you once again Chicago for helping keep real music alive and showing everyone just how amazing you are.
