AUGUST BURNS RED AT STARLAND BALLROOM IN SAYREVILLE

AUGUST BURNS RED AT STARLAND BALLROOM IN SAYREVILLE

August Burns Red just wrapped up tour support for Killswitch Engage early this spring/summer. They have just started their headlining “Through the Thorns Tour” with support from We Came As Romans and Hollow Front. Their second stop on the tour was Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

Anyone that has been to an ABR concert in the past, knows what they are in for: a huge reunion of diehard fans that partake in singing along and turning the crowd into a moving escalator of bodies crowd surfing to the front. After the opening performances from Hollow Front and We Came As Romans warmed the crowd up, August Burns Red made their way to the stage and opened the show with a cover of “Chop Suey”. The System of a Down classic was just perfect to start the show. “Vengeance”, “Paramount” and “Invisible Enemy” would start this show off as well. As always, the boys were all over the stage making their presence known. Engaging with all the fans, new comers and veterans, Jake, JB, Brent, and Dustin gave their nods to fellow faces while Matt sat on his throne beating those drum heads as he does!

During these shows, there are some unfortunate situations that arise. During this set, there was a situation that came about in the middle of the crowd. The boys stopped playing as Jake took to the mic to direct fans to give room for security and emergency team members to take action and render aid. The entire band, with all the fans and staff in attendance, waited quietly until the injured fan was cared for and was brought to safety. Jake had some special words to give to the injured fan and reminded all of the fans in attendance that they were all there to enjoy the music, have a great time, and watch out for one another.

The show continued with that same energy from before the pause. “Meddler”, “Defender”, and “Composure” were more of the tunes that came next. The crowd picked right back up, loving every minute of music played. The energy was not only coming from the crowd. You can always see Jake pouring out his heart and soul as he performs each song. If you turn your attention to the back of the stage, you may catch Matt making some of his classic drumming faces while performing his magic before the set.

August Burns Red is currently on tour for the remainder of Summer 2022. Make sure to check and see if they are hitting a city close to you!
