CLAIRO AT HOUSE OF BLUES IN HOUSTON
Clairo graced Houston with her presence in support of her album, Immunity. This was my first time seeing Claire perform live and I was truly surprised in the best way. Her live performance sounds exactly how the studio recordings sound and even despite the several hundred people screaming the words to every song, every lyric could be heard so well.
The stage production was simple, yet so successful in pulling off the aesthetic and accompanying the sounds of Immunity. Cottrill is the epitome of what a "cool girl" looks like, but also has a way of making you feel like she's someone familiar that you already know. Her music has that same effect as well, and it's very apparent when you see her perform live.
I was pleasantly surprised when she opened with my favorite track off of Immunity, “Alewife”. It's a song I found very relatable, just like most of Claire's music.
After seeing Clairo for the first time, I'm super excited to see how she will continue to grow and mature as an artist. I'm anxiously awaiting a hopeful second leg of the “Immunity Tour”, maybe next year? *cough cough*
As of right now, you can definitely catch her on tour as support next year for Tame Impala. I'm seeing 2020 as being Clairo's year.
