EJ CAREY RELEASES NEW EP 'OUTLIER'
Boston pop-rock artist EJ Carey just released her EP Outlier. The 5 song EP deals with self-discovery, letting go, and transitioning.
Outlier follows the 2016 release of EJ Carey’s debut 9 track album, Loaded Question, featuring EJ Carey’s hit single “Heidi”.
Since it’s only 5 songs, EJ doesn’t waste any time. Every song is a banger and has a message to get across.
EJ posted on Twitter that track one, “Rising Tides, Crashing Skies” is about “something wild had happened”. Then she quoted a lyric, “we are fundamentally different and I cannot take your side.”
My favorite track, is “Old Friends” which Carey described as a letter to friends who walk out of your life and you realize how awful they were once gone.
“I’ve been on this earth too long to play these games/ And I ain’t saying any names.”
She goes on to talk about how you sometimes end up in what seems like a great social situation but once you stop and think, you look at how many fake friends are there and how you don’t really want to be. Everyone can relate to either people walking out on you in the dark times or just realizing how much one person brings you down.
Outlier posts as EJ Carey’s triumph despite the roller coaster of feelings this last year and through the EP.
