GIDEON AT THEATRE OF LIVING ARTS IN PHILADELPHIA

Philadelphia likes it heavy and loud. “The Act Tour” featuring The Devil Wears Prada, Norma Jean, and Gideon rolled through the Theatre of Living Arts and brought fans out to mosh, scream, and surf over the heads of their fellow concert goers. This lineup really did showcase a great deal of talent from heavier bands, and definitely was a must see if you’re a fan of the genre.

Having Gideon open the show could not have been a better choice. The metalcore act from Alabama recently released their fifth album Out of Control on October 11th through Equal Vision records. Once they hit the stage to start the show, they came out full force. The venue was still filling in, but the crowd that was there to experience the band were able to witness the pure heaviness that they brought to the table. They performed many tracks off the new album such as “SLEEP”, “2 CLOSE”, and “BITE DOWN”, and also played a couple songs from their other album Cold.

Throughout the performance something very notable about Gideon’s live sound is how full and hefty their bass sound is. It’s the type of sound that completely rattles your insides and shakes the floor. The band also have a great persona on stage, giving the audience that “We’re here to f**k shit up,” kind of feel. It was great to see that those who showed up early still gave the band the same kind of attention they gave to their other support and headlining act. The floor of the TLA became a very large pit and the moshers certainly were not holding back. How could you not go wild with the sound the band produce?

If you’re a fan of the heavy music genre, I’d highly suggest taking a look into hitting up this tour. Definitely make sure to get there early enough to catch Gideon if you do, because if you haven’t heard of the band you’ll be quite impressed by their performance.
