SLAYER AT KFC YUM CENTER IN LOUISVILLE
To warm up the arena, opening acts Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals and Ministry played two knuckle busting sets that gave the pit a reason to move around to warm up for the main event.
Before Slayer took to the stage for one of their last shows ever, another music legend gave the KFC Yum Center exactly what that they wanted. Primus kicked off their set with a proper hit “Too Many Puppies.” With every bass slap that Les Claypool played, I could feel my brain being smacked over and over while the LED screens blinded me by playing collages of Salad Finger videos. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I wish I would’ve stayed for their full set before leaving to prep for Slayer.
The arena was black and the stage was shrouded with two kabuki curtains. All the while, two gigantic Slayer logo projections flew around the room and fans were screaming “SLAYER!!!!” at the top of their lungs. The first kabuki dropped and the stage becames almost visible. Then, the pyro canons threw fire casting heat all the way to the pit and lit up the entire venue. The second kabuki dropped and Slayer began to shred to the thousands that gathered to witness one of their last shows ever; forever defining their status of the best Thrash Metal band to exist.
You can see Slayer on their Final Campaign tour on one of their last shows on the west coast this November.
