I PREVAIL AT TECH PORT ARENA IN SAN ANTONIO
San Antonio’s newest venue got its metalcore welcome when I Prevail brought their “True Power Tour” to the Alamo City. After selling out the show well in advance, fans lined up around the building, eager to finally get this stacked line up with Pierce the Veil, Fit For a King, and Yours Truly, supporting I Prevail.
Yours Truly kicked off the night and brought their blend of Australian hard rock to the San Antonio crowd. Their singer worked the stage with her high-energy performance, getting the crowd into it like they were already big fans.
It was a stark contrast when the much heavier Fit For A King took the stage, but it was no problem for the Texas-based metalcore band. The crowd quickly warmed up and got moving along to the heavy riffs, breakdowns, and catchy choruses.
The crowd erupted into a deafening, “Pierce-the-Veil” chant as soon as Fit For a King walked off, setting the stage for San Antonio favorites. A Mariachi tracked rolled, the lights dimmed down, and the crowd went wild as the band walked out. If you know Pierce the Veil, you know how passionate their fans are. This was highlighted on this night, considering the band hadn’t toured in 5 years. Fans screamed, sang, and crowd surfed through the whole performance as the band played a nearly hour-long set that included some of their biggest hits.
Pierce the Veil is a tough act to follow, especially in a city like San Antonio, but I Prevail deemed themselves worthy as soon as they came on stage. The band kicked things off with the opening tracks of their latest release True Power. Once the full band came in, the massive room was hit with a wall of sound that set the tone for the set to come. I Prevail continued the set with most songs coming off their latest album, and it was well received by the audience. The dynamic between the vocalists really helped get the crowd amped up throughout the entire set. “Body Bag” and “Hurricane” were some of the highlights of the performance before the band finally ended the set with a gut-punching performance of “Bow Down”.
