JOEL CORRY AT WEBSTER HALL IN NEW YORK CITY

1:30 am sounds like a wild time for a set to start, but it wasn’t all that strange for concert go-ers attending Joel Corry’s headlining DJ set at Webster Hall this past weekend. The U.K. based DJ made his way across the pond for the first time for a U.S. headlining tour and played his penultimate show in NYC. His career broke out in 2019 with his single “Sorry” and since then he’s boasted three consecutive U.K. Top 5 Records and the year’s longest running consecutive U.K. #1 Single “Head & Heart”. It’s no surprise that Joel Corry pulled such a large crowd that night.

Fans did not have to wait long for Joel to take the stage after his opener. When he did, the crowd erupted into a booming cheer. He started his set and immediately had everybody in Webster Hall dancing. Fans threw each other on top of other’s shoulders and were bouncing like they were having the time of their lives. His stage setup and production were simple. He stood in front of a large LED board that flashed visuals during his tracks, whether it be his name, video clips, or lyrics. He had jet cannons that shot off during certain points in each track and fog that covered the stage every so often. His set truly didn’t need more than this though, as he played through song after song, banger after banger. Fans were moving around so much that drinks were spilling over the barricade and turning the pit in between the stage and the barricade into a slip and slide for any photographers or security navigating it.

As I made my way around the venue I looked at everyone in the crowd and couldn’t help but smile. It was so great to see how everyone had come together to have a good time and to just dance and let loose. It seemed as though with each mix, he had the crowd even more amped up than before, over and over and over. The audience sang along when hits such as “Bed”, “Out Out”, and “Bad Habits” came on. When “Head & Heart” started, there was no containing the audience. All in all, the 2 hour set they got had them sweating by the end and leaving the venue with huge smiles on their faces. Joel Corry mixes very well live and you’re sure to be in for a good club night with him at the table.
