KASS ROSE GOLD POPS ON NEW EP 'JOY RIDE'
San Diego singer Kass Rose Gold has more than enough flair to keep your attention through the whole EP and leave you wanting more. Her second EP, Joy Ride is fun and danceable. It’s easy to just have a good time while you listen to it.
In the first song “Forbidden Love”, Kass describes it as,
“...being strung along during the global pandemic”
This song was also the lead single of the record and is the strong start. Everyone in their life has experienced being strung along and thinking a situation is different than it ends up. It’s kind of a dark song, but it’s presented in a light and airy way that could definitely be added to the playlist of a beach party or just played out on a summer night.
Both “Green Light”, which was also a single, and the third track “WYA” (where you at), features John Givez who adds a different dynamic to both songs. “Green Light” is about being ready to go out and waiting for your partner/friends to give you the okay. The back and forth between Kass and John gives you the impression they’re almost talking to each other. Kass again displays her perfectly airy pop/R&B vocals in this song.
My favorite song on the album is the last track titled “Grateful”. From the first lyrics, Kass mentions spending time to heal and missing those who love you and you love dearly, which is something we can definitely all relate to, especially over the last year and a half. The song is just about healing and being grateful for yourself and where you are. You really just do have to be grateful for yourself, and for being alive and surviving to get through the day. This EP is a lot of fun and I look forward to more things Kass Rose Gold does, especially with live music back in full swing.
