KEEP FLYING AT HOUSE OF INDEPENDENTS AT ASBURY PARK
If you’ve been sleeping on Keep Flying, it’s time to wake up. The six piece pop punk/rock band from New Jersey is opening for Real Friends on their latest tour, and if you‘ve bought tickets for an upcoming date I would highly recommend getting there early to check them out. I’m a huge sucker for live horns, and the band features trumpet, trombone, and saxophone. Their sound and stage presence were enough to really blow me away and have me asking why more people don’t talk about this band.
The first time I saw Keep Flying was back in December when they opened for Man Overboard at a small bar type place. From then on I knew I would have to catch them at some point on a bigger stage. The sound itself from the band is so full and lively, but the stage presence they present is even bigger. When it comes down to it, what you’re really seeing is six talented dudes on stage having the time of their lives. Visually the band is so interesting to watch that you can’t look away. Whether you’re watching their members running circles on stage, jumping straight through the air, or straight up jamming out, you can always expect to see the guys moving. At one point they brought a flautist on stage to join them as well. The time spent seeing their performance was lighthearted, fun, and passionate. Regardless of whether they were playing to a room with one hundred people or ten, you could just tell that they band would be giving all the energy that they had.
After Keep Flying played their set, Pronoun took the stage to slow things down for a bit before Real Friends turned House of Independents upside down again. Overall I would say it was a pretty solid tour line up and definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of the pop punk genre. Again, definitely make sure you get there early enough to catch Keep Flying. You’re guaranteed to have an amazing time!
