MOON TOOTH AT GRAMERCY THEATRE IN NEW YORK CITY
The date was July 10, 2019. The venue was Saint Vitus. Light The Torch was having their debut show with opening support from SAUL and this band called Moon Tooth. This was one show I am glad I was in attendance for and watching, not shooting or working. One of the greatest things to come out of a show you attend is hearing new music from a band you have not yet heard of. That summer night in Brooklyn, NY, Moon Tooth added more fans to their fan base.
I have seen Moon Tooth several times now since. This past show at Gramercy Theater in NYC proved once again why this group is quickly climbing the charts and catching the exposure they deserve. You want to see someone shred on the guitar? Watch Nick Lee as he demonstrates a virtuoso lead guitar solo with his unique style and passion. Maybe you’re in the mood for some smooth string slapping with a catchy groove - turn your attention to the other side of the stage to watch Vincent Romanelli do just that. Who doesn’t love a drummer with a blues and rock music style approach? Add his fast pace, heavy hits, and constant groove patterns, and Ray Marte will keep that energy alive all night. Have you ever seen John Carbone hit the stage? It has been quite some time since I have not only seen a lead singer with so much passion and heart driven words, but that I can actually feel his energy and deliverance. After shooting several of their shows, I know it is sometimes a struggle to get a good shot of John. He is literally nonstop, dancing and spinning all over the stage, and most importantly delivering a powerful and amazing performance that people have come to see.
I have been a part of the music industry, in one way or another, for over 3 decades now. One feeling some may know, and have even grown to love, is when you see “that band that opened for that other band at that place…” still rocking as hard as day one and now getting the recognition they deserve. That band is playing a bigger venue. That band is promoting a new album. That band now has other bands opening for them. Now add all of this together, plus some holiday magic, and you are in for one hell of a night. You know that the band is still going strong and you know they are still enjoying exactly what they do. THAT deliverance is exactly what I expected and received at Gramercy on 12/16/2021. The boys took to the stage and gave their fans both old and new that kick ass performance Moon Tooth is known for. From old songs going back to their album Crux and plenty of new, this show even got Old St. Nick to stop by with one of his elfs to bring some holidays cheer. Check out Moon Tooth’s latest single “The Conduit” - it could be just THAT sound you have been looking for.
