REVIEW: OF VIRTUE "OMEN"
Of Virtue's "OMEN" is the latest album to be entered into their arsenal of music. This album delivers lyrics and sound with an emotional depth and musical talent, captivating the listener from start to finish. This album captures the essence of modern metalcore, linking raw aggression with passionate melodies and lyrical sincerity. I will proudly admit – as soon as I started playing the album, by track 3 “Cold Blooded”, I was already skipping back to track 1 “Omen” to replay and listen agaiN. The songs are simply that virtuous.
From the very first track, "Omen," the album sets a relentless pace, driven by powerful riffs, catchy electric keys/sounds, and intense drumming that drive the emotion home. Each song feels meticulously crafted, balancing intense energy with moments of haunting beauty (from lead vocals to backing harmonies to the massive amount of energy through each instrument), like in "Omen," "Sober," or “Sinner”. The vocal dynamics, fluctuating between deep screams and soaring clean vocals, add layers of intensity and vulnerability.
What truly elevates "OMEN" is its control between lyrics and music that is easily picked up by the listener. The songs truly deliver that butterfly feeling mixed with roller coaster drops to keep you engaged from one song to the next.
