LAUREN MARCUS DROPS NEW SINGLE "SKINNY & BLONDE"

Multi-hyphenate artist Lauren Marcus recently released her new single titled “Skinny & Blonde”, which is not only a total jam but is also so much fun. The single comes from her upcoming album in 2024 titled Drugstore.

The video playfully delves into the theme of authenticity in identity by experimenting with different looks with wigs and wardrobe changes. The message remains the same - always be yourself and don’t dilute yourself down to things people want you to be. Through the video she is trying on a brunette wig, a blonde wig, and various clothing to portray an image. The last look is a sheer white dress with heels as she walks into the water, rinsing off the thoughts of others who wanted her to be a specific way. 

Marcus says of the song,

“I wrote this song when I was actually at my skinniest and blondest, and I mean that just as much metaphorically as physically… an ideal I strove for and a look I thought would absolutely change my career and, ultimately, my happiness. Surprise! It didn't! And it actually made my life infinitely worse!”
