STONE TEMPLE PILOTS AT THE STONE PONY SUMMER STAGE IN ASBURY PARK
The time has come yet again - another summer season has passed and the Stone Pony Summer Stage has opened and closed the gates for the last time of 2019. With that said, how do you end a season with that BANG? How do you end a season with all the music and concert lovers saying, "NOW THAT IS HOW YOU END THE SEASON RIGHT!"? When you have a legendary venue such as The Stone Pony, what do you do to satisfy the fans? You have the Stone Temple Pilots end it with a big bang, BABY!
It was a perfect day. The sun was shining bright, the temperature was just right. The sun even tagged in alongside the moon to make the sky glow over the ocean and bring enough attention to the stage that even Jeffrey Adam Gutt, singer for Stone Temple Pilots, made it known while speaking to the crowd between songs. What an amazing moment for the DeLeo brothers to close out the Jersey Shore's legendary and historic Stone Pony 2019 summer season, with them being just a town over from where they were raised in Point Pleasant.
The stage setup was pure rock status- instruments, amps, lighting/smoke and the band. Simple and perfect! Their stage presence was crazy and energetic. The guys were totally in their zone with their instruments of choice, while rocking out with each other on stage and putting on one hell of a performance! They kept giving their love to the crowd, and the crowd kept giving it right back. From start to finish this was one of those shows you had to be attending to truly feel the passion, and experience just how amazing it was. When you are musicians like Rob, Dean, Eric and Jeff, and you are the Stone Temple Pilots, you don't need anything else but that!
The setlist Sunday night was amazing. For me personally, to kick it off with hits from their albums “Core” and “Purple”, I was literally in the pit rocking out and dancing with some of the other photographers and crew members. When they finished “Wicked Garden” and I heard the start to “Vasoline”, I was excited. I grew up listening to STP and being a huge fan of them. Words cannot describe just how much this show meant to me, and just overall how amazing of a show this was. Whether I was looking through the lens at the band or looking out in to the crowd, I saw nothing but smiles, cheers, laughs, devil horns raised, and high fives from one fan to another. The Stone Temple Pilots absolutely rocked Asbury Park!
This was my first time seeing STP with Jeff Gutt as frontman. He was absolutely amazing. Besides talking to the crowd from the stage, he happened to make his way off stage and start walking across the barricade right in front of me! Jeff kept the show rocking while stopping section by section and engaging with the fans.
I am going to leave you with some valuable advice - if you have the chance to see Stone Temple Pilots today, tonight, tomorrow or the next day, do it. Whether they are playing at a venue in your town or if it’s a 5 hour road trip, you do not want to miss them! Every song from “Crackerman” to “Lounge Fly” to “Big Empty” to “Dead & Bloated” brings back priceless memories. For for any first timers, if you’re a fan of great music with amazingly talented musicians that put on one hell of a show, Stone Temple Pilots is all you need to know!
