THE KNOCKS AT THE FILLMORE IN CHARLOTTE

THE KNOCKS AT THE FILLMORE IN CHARLOTTE

As I approached The Fillmore, I saw plenty of young people in their rave attire ready to let loose during the “Gravity II Tour” with Gryffin. When I entered the venue The Knocks were already getting the party started. Make sure to check out Gryffin’s instagram stories for set times so you don’t miss any of the acts! The Knocks hail from New York and are made up of Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Petterson. Their electronic mixes definitely resonated with the crowd. As people filtered in and got some drinks, they made their way to the floor where the guys were playing a mix of house music and original remixes with undeniable beats. Having been known for producing many songs for other well known artists, the duo held their own on the stage. JPatt was interactive with the crowd throughout the set and threw some spoken/ rap pieces into the mix of music along the way. Once the set really got going, they put the large screen behind them to use with fun visuals featuring trippy edits from classic movies and pop culture. Everyone was warmed up and dancing. Upon running out of tequila, JPatt put his faith in the crowd to help him out. When he received a drink he proclaimed, “See, I told you guys I trusted universe to provide, I’ve got a great vibe from you tonight.”

Following The Knocks was Gryffin, a self described melodic house artist. He uses his skill with other instruments like guitar and piano to create a hybrid version of electronic music unique to him. The crowd was thrilled as he made his appearance on the stage amidst flashing lights. He performed with an amazing energy, truly feeling his own music and giving the fans the classic “edm drops” they were so looking forward to. Grabbing his guitar, Gryffin lead the show goers into his music and the beat. Towards the end of the set he played several of his recent hits, one of them being “Tie Me Down’ in which the audience sang back to him almost louder than the music itself. All in all, it was a fun filled night full of so many great and friendly people. I just want to know if anyone found the after party with The Knocks?
