I 8 MONDAYS #2: A WEEKLY PLAYLIST

I 8 MONDAYS #2: A WEEKLY PLAYLIST

Because:

  • (Almost) everyone hates Mondays

  • New brilliant and amazing music comes out every Friday and you don’t (always) have the time to look for it during the weekend

  • We HAD to share our favorites with yoU

We will bring you 10 songs that we loved every week. This is our point of view as European and French music lovers. Here are our first picks, in no particular order.

Sea Girls (UK) – Ready for More

The British band is set to release a new EP in some weeks. “Ready For More” is the first Sea Girls’ single of 2020. As efficient as their others bangers, we loved their guitar and drums rhythms on this one. It’s difficult not to indulge in dancing!  After a stellar year in 2019, they are obviously setting the bar even higher in 2020. Are you ready?

Kaleo (IS)I Want More & Break my Baby

FOUR years without any new sound. After a brilliant debut album published in 2016, Kaleo took his time to process everything that brutally happened. Without any warning, he released two new amazing songs, last week. We simply can not stop listening to it. Can you?

While “I Want More” brings images of long shiny strolls to mind, “Break My Baby” navigates in the realm of nights dripping in sweat and other substances. It’s the sexiest song you’ll hear this week by far! One thing’s certain: Kaleo’s upcoming album is going to be of epic proportions!

The Amazons (UK) – Heart of Darkness

Sometimes, the extended version of an already released record is not really interesting. It often has more to do with the marketing stunt than a real discovery, but not this time. The Amazons put out two new songs with their extended version of Future Dust. “Heart of Darkness” is a beautiful piece of modern rock.

Bombay Bicycle Club (UK) – People People

This is the first album released in four years and Bombay Bicycle Club gave us the perfect piece of music to listen to on a cozy evening when it’s cold outside. The indie rock record, with slight touches of psyche rock, is a warm, welcoming and soothing musical bubble.

The Zangwills (UK) – Spielblerg Sweethearts

A new fresh discovery, directly from Northwich, in the north west of Great Britain. Their indie rock is a brilliant mashup between so many influences that it is hard to pinpoint all of them. We love the energy and the joy coming from their last EP, In Amongst The Glitter!

Of Montreal (USA) - You’ve Had Me Everywhere

The Roaring Twenties may be back, but the 80’s aren’t far either! Case and point: Of Montreal’s last album. It’s filled with tons of melodic surprises that can be savoured like little sweets. With its charming innocence, “You’ve Had Me Everywhere” is particularly delicious and could fit quite well in… let’s say in Sex Education!

Aliocha (France/Canada), Naked

Three notes nonchalantly glide on a bass. The young Aliocha has just signed a most elegant come back. If “Naked” is closer to a poem than a song, it’s still incredibly catchy, which may just make it even more haunting.

Broken Back (France), Anybody Else

Broken Back’s vocal fry is unmistakable, and his songs are always a joy to listen to. “Anybody Else” is no exception! Its lyrics aren’t very inventive, but it is undeniably, super effective. With its strong rhythms and its Raï undertones, it’s perfect to warm our cold little hearts throughout the winter!

Tiwayo ft. Ty Taylor (France), Baby Don’t You Worry

Tiwayo is slowly but surely building himself a nice reputation in France, and this new single should only do him good! “Baby Don’t You Worry” is indeed, brilliantly lively, and the twangy tone of the young singer’s voice blends incredibly well with the warmer voice of Ty “Vintage Trouble” Taylor. Let’s bring back “Soul Train" !
