CITY AND COLOUR AT WEBSTER HALL IN NEW YORK CITY
It was back in the mid 2000's that I discovered the band 'Alexisonfire'. Shortly after, I discovered yet another amazing band, City and Colour. One commonality between the two surely was not the genre of music, but one amazingly talented musician, Dallas Green.
You could feel the energy in the room as the crowd waited for Dallas and his crew to hit the stage. Fans of all ages, new comers and veterans of his music, filled Webster Hall in New York City. This was my first time seeing City and Colour live in concert, and one on the bucket list finally crossed off! The lighting for the show was fit perfectly from the opening of the show to the solo, to the end. The presence of the band was calm and in tune with the verses. When the chorus would kick in, you could see each band members’ energy explode. From starting the show with songs likes “Astronaut” and “Strangers”, to be soon followed by “Two Coins”, “Runaway”, and “Little Hell”, the energy in the room not only continued to grow, but the volume of the crowd did as well. The show was sold out, so the volume of everyone’s voice grew and grew as Dallas continued to play hit after hit, with some extra jams thrown in to really make this show something special for all.
One thing I love about Dallas Green is his unique talent and what he brings to the music industry. He is an astounding guitarist and pianist, and his voice is beyond fascinating and diverse. It is always important for a vocalist to have their own sound and tones. As I said at the start, to sing in two completely different groups and genres, and make those songs come to life the way they do is pure talent! As I made my way through the crowd, it really is fascinating to see how in the moment a fan becomes while listening to one of their favorite bands/musicians.
Going to see one of your favorite bands live is always a good time, but a show like this with everything perfect makes a great night! Adding the talent of each band member, the crowd involvement during songs, and then the added solos and breakdowns really improves the experience. Throughout the night the hits continued to flow as Dallas brought out “Thrist”, “Lover Come Back”, and “Waiting. You really can't ask for more during a 21 song set! A truly remarkable and epic night of music to both capture on camera and listen to live! Until next time, keep rocking!
