EJ CAREY RELEASES NEW SINGLE "CRIME OF PASSION"
If you’re not familiar with Boston singer-songwriter EJ Carey, you should become familiar very quickly. She has the perfect pop-punk voice that radiates passion and emotion. In her latest single, “Crime of Passion”, the song describes a girlfriend who got left for another girl, and the singer talks about “head and heart” getting treated badly and being set ablaze by the crime of passion.
“Harmonically, building the chords for this was a bit of a challenge, as I knew I wanted the skeleton to have rock music muscles. While this is a poppy pop-punk song, I wove in some typical rock chord progressions to intensify the rage of the main character,” says EJ Carey.
Carey takes inspiration from the Warped Tour scene and that is very apparent in this song, with it sounding like a combination of early 2000’s pop-punk, and reminds me of Hey Monday.
