LEON AT THE FOUNDRY IN PHILADELPHIA, PA
Swedish singer and songwriter Léon wowed the audience at The Foundry in Philadelphia as part of her “You and I” tour in celebration of her new album Léon. With support from Morgan Saint, Léon is making her way around the U.S, boasting several sold out shows (Philadelphia included). With her captivating, carefree attitude, Léon mesmerized the Philadelphia audience and left fans already looking forward to her next visit.
Morgan Saint opened the show and got the audience started with an indie-pop style of music. People were bobbing up and down as she performed and jamming along. Onstage she only brings herself, live drums, and synth, but provided a very full sound. Overall she gave a very strong performance.
When Léon took the stage, the crowd’s energy burst out. Her stage set up was beautiful and gave off a very homey and relaxed vibe with house plants, vintage looking lamps, a decorative rug, and of course, a neon sign that read “Léon”. She excited attendees with her performances of tracks such as “Falling”, “I Believe in Us”, and “You and I”. There was even a mashup/cover of her track “Body” with Fleetwood Mac’s hit “Dreams”. By the fourth song in the set, she made herself comfortable as she exclaimed to the audience that she was kicking off her shoes. During the rest of the performance Léon danced around the stage and vibed to the music while delivering vocals with a tone that was out of this world gorgeous. She made sure to pay attention to and interact with the audience members from all sides of the stage, never just focusing her attention only to one side. A very memorable part of her performance was during “Pink” when Léon walked over to a second mic and her voice was put through some type of effect that gave her a very electronic quality. This can be heard in the background of the studio version of the track, but was brought to life and made more prominent live. It added an extra layer to the live version that was quite captivating.
